Second order activism
Second order activism is an idea proposed by Robert Brockway around 2017. Mr Brockway proposed that the core ideas of men's rights are too difficult for the general public to accept partly because they exist outside of the Overton window and that these ideas will be taken by non-MRAs, watered down, repackaged and then delivered to the general public. Mr Brockway calls this process second order activism. Credit is not normally given to men's rights.
In most cases the general public will remain unaware that these ideas originated within men's rights. Some who embrace ideas that began within men's rights will continue to be hostile to the movement itself. Ideas that have become widely disseminated in this manner include gynocentrism and the notion that intimate partner violence is not gendered.
Second order activists do not identify as MRAs and sometimes have profound disagreement with MRAs outside of their areas of activism. MRAs would often consider them to be purple pill or even blue pill.
Intactivists are not generally second order activists as the intactivist movement arose separately to men's rights.
