Mainstream media reports suggests a man was man was pranked with dissolving shorts at Queensland beach in March 2023. The reports state that the man's girlfriend stole his swimming shorts and then gave him a spare pair that she has purchased. He later discovered that the pair dissolved in water. In the story the main was forced to remain without clothing for several hours and was laughed at by all 15 family members present.[1]
Many commentators on Reddit have suggested this story is likely fake, largely due to the claim that no one came to his aid out of such a large group.[2][3]
While this is likely fake, a similar prank really occurred in the United States in 2021. Dara Roberts pranked her bother with a pair of dissolving shorts at a beach, recorded it and posted it on TikTok
