Labyris was a separatist feminist book store which operated in New York City during the 1970s. Labyris opened in September 1972 and closed in 1977 due to poor sales. Many women would frequent the store but they wouldn't buy.[1][2]
The store was named for a double-sided axe used by Amazon warriors of legend.[3][4]
The well known phrase the future is female originated at the store.[5][6]
