Second order activism is an idea proposed by Robert Brockway around 2017. Mr Brockway proposed that the core ideas of men's rights are too difficult for the general public to accept and that these ideas will be taken by non-MRAs, watered down, repackaged and delivered to the general public. This is second order activism.
In most cases the general public will remain unaware that these ideas originated within men's rights. Some who embrace these ideas that began within men's rights will continue to be hostile to the movement itself. Ideas to have become widely disseminated in this manner include gynocentrism and the notion that intimate partner violence is not gendered.
