The Prevent programme claims to be an anti-terrorism programme run by the British government. It was founded in 2019.

Douglas Murray and others have warned that the programme is increasingly partisan, focusing mainly on right wing extremists. Murray has warned that a 2023 report by Prevent suggested that reading books by George Orwell (including Nineteen Eighty-Four) , C.S. Lewis, J. R. R. Tolkien, Aldous Huxley, Joseph Conrad or himself could be an indication of far-right or extemist views.[1]
