The essay The Future--If there is one--Is Female was written by Sally Miller Gearhart in 1980. A quote from the essay below gives an indication of the tone. The entire essay is available for download from this page.
"The proportion of men must be reduced to and maintained at approximately 10% of the human race." [1]
The essay was not the origin of the phrase the future is female which predates the essay by eight years.
