In Australia, on average, one man dies as a result of domestic violence every 10 days. This figure is easily verified. Read Table 10 in the document Australian Homicide Report 2010-2011 to 2011-2012: National Homicide Monitoring Program report.[1] This report covers the 2010-2011 & 2011-2012 Australian financial years.
Calculation
The Australian financial year 2010-2011 (July 1, 2010 - June 30, 2011) was a period of 365 days. The Australian financial year 2011-2012 (July 1, 2011 - June 30, 2012) was a period of 366 days as 2012 was a leap year. The reporting period covers both of these Australian financial years and so is a total of 731 days.
