After decades of the role of fathers being denigrated and marginalised, the evidence today clearly shows that fathers have an important role to play in the upbringing of children. Fathers tends to be more spontaneous in activities that they choose to do with children and tend to allow children to engage in somewhat more risky activities than mothers. These choices are thought to assist a child in developing risk management and other skills that will benefit them in their adult life.

The Men's Rights Movement does not seek to enforce a traditional view of the family. It simply argues that fathers should not be excluded from the lives of their children as is so often the case today.
