No Exit Order (Israel)
A No Exit Order is a form of court order issued bt the family courts in Israel. These orders, which prevent the men from leaving Israel, can be issued to Israeli or foreign men. These orders grant no right to work in Israel so their application to foreign men can leave the men destitute and unable to leave Israel, while still having the obligation to make payments as ordered by the family court.
Large numbers of men in Israel are unable to leave the country because they are subject to a no exit orders. Although some nations such as Australia and the United States will refuse to allow a man to leave if he is in arrears on child support payments, Israel may refuse to allow a man to leave unless he has made future payments to the extent determined by a court.
It has recently been reported that Australian man Noam Huppert is prohibited from leaving Israel for nearly 8000 years.[1]
Journalist Marianne Azizi, producer of the documentaryNo Exit Order has been advised that the British embassy in Israel gets around 100 enquiries per month concerning No Exit Orders.[2]
