Como Secondary College is an independent public, specialist, co-educational and day, high school, located in Como, a suburb of Perth, Western Australia. Established in 1969, the school caters for students from Year 7 to Year 12. It has an enrolment of 818 students as of 31 December 2023, and employs 87 staff as of 29 April 2024.
March 2020
During a school camp held on 9-10 March 2020 a group of 11-12 year old boys were made to kneel on concrete and hold their pillow out at arms lengths for a period of approximately 10 minutes. This occurred late at night and reportedly included some boys who were claimed to be rowdy and others who were simply trying to sleep. The corporal punishment was inflicted on the students by female science teacher.[1][2]
May 2021
A female teacher stormed in to a boys locker room at the school without warning while they were cheering for a team mate. The teacher accused the boys of being misogynistic. They were reportedly surprised and upset by the allegation made by the teacher as they report that women were not even being discussed.[3][4][5][6][7]
