Queensland Police Service
The Queensland Police Service (QPS) is the principal law enforcement agency responsible for policing the Australian state of Queensland. In 1990, the Queensland Police Force was officially renamed the Queensland Police Service and the old motto of "Firmness with Courtesy" was changed to "With Honour We Serve".
2021 Recruiting Scandal
In 2021 the Australian Broadcasting Corporation reported that between 2015 & 20128 QPS engaged incorrupt manipulation and discriminatroy practices in order to meet a 50% female hiring target. The Crime and Corruption Commission determined that around 200 meritorious male applicants missed out on appointments to the Queensland Police accademy due to these practices. The report further notes that six women were appointed to the academy despite not meeting the minimum requirements for appointment.[1][2]
