David Reimer reportedly kept trying to stand to urinate even though he no longer had a penis and was being told to sit.
Standing to urinate is widely frowned on in Sweden and Germany.
The prostate gland makes it possible for men to comfortably urinate while standing. It's recommended that women not do this, especially in the shower.[1]
