Margaret Hughes is a British woman who, along with Sarah McDermott and Eileen Igoe was convicted and jailed for child abuse committed between 1969 & 1981. Hughes was a carer at the Smyllum Park orphanage in Scotland. Among other offences Hughes reportedly forced a girl in to a freezing bath and held her head under the water.[1]
The Smyllum Park orphanage closed in 1981.[2]
