Consider that male-only communities like monasteries have operated continuously for centuries.

Nunneries have operated continuously for centuries too but they did not operate in a purely single-sex environment since they were under the supervision of the church hierarchy which was invariably male.

So there are plenty of examples of male-only institutions lasting centuries. Are there any examples of purely female-only institutions that lasted for a comparable length of time?

The hypothesis that men natually form hierarchical power structures while women seek to govern by consensus may explain this difference in effective institutions.
