Young men

In all societies young men are responsible for the bulk of innovation. Changes in education in recent decades are causing young men to perform less well in school. This may ultimately cause a loss of innovation in these societies in the future.
It is notable that the proportion of young men at university has been falling for decades. It is possible that, despite the way they are treated in primary and high schools, that they are seeing that universities are becoming irrelevant in the information age and they are voting with their feet. Perhaps young men are still being innovative but they are doing so without a university education. In contract women are continuing to follow a more traditional path through education.
