Megan Jayne Somerville
Megan Jayne Somerville is an Australian woman who was charged with attempted murder. It is alleged that on 16 August 2022 Somerville attempted to murder her two sons by removing them from her car and stabbing them on the roadside. A man who has not been identified intervened and is credited with saving the life of the boys.[1][2]
In March 2025 South Australian Supreme Court Justice Sandi McDonald found beyond a reasonable doubt that Somerville had stabbed both of her sons after having taken methamphetamemes, cannabis and prescription medication. She then ruled that Somerville was not guilty by way of mental incompetence. Somerville will be held at a mental health facility until she is deemed safe to be released in to the community.[3][4]
