Any data on how successful it is?
We must recognize that many counselors default to helping the crying wife who tenderly looks to the counselor for wisdom and then default to a disapproval of the husband who sits coldly in the chair with arms folded tightly.
The author is arguing that marriage counsellors keep making the same mistake session after session across a working life of 10, 20, 30 years.
The author admits bias against men while subtly blaming men. How about as professionals they deal with clients with different outlooks without favour.
“of couples who try marriage counseling, 90% feel that their emotional health improves, and two-thirds report improvements in their physical health.” [2]
But did it save the marriage?
