Divorce clustering is a phenomenon whereby the chance that a couple will divorce is increased as a result of friends getting divorced. Some sources have described divorce as being contagious.[1][2][3]

This effect is observed beyond the immediate social circle with divorces among friends (one degree of separation) and friends of friends (two degrees of separation) resulting in an increased chance of divorce.[4][5][6]
