The statement There are no feminists on a sinking ship is a reference to the fact that many feminists will forego feminist ideology when it is to their advantage to do so. In the case of a (female) feminist on a sinking ship, she may well seek to obtain a seat ahead of men (using female privilege) even though she ascribes to a feminist ideology that would, on the surface at least, reject this action.
