We often hear the claim that women are the gatekeepers of sex and that research supports this. All this really means is men are more likely to say yes if their partner initiates sex. Given that research shows that women are less inclined to initiate sex even when they want it the inclination for men to be more likely to say yes says little about levels of desire.

Greater bisexuality in women might be an indicator of women's greater sex drive.

If women didn't pursue sex abortions would not be as common as they are.

-This study is arguing men turn down sex with their partner as often as women do. If men are more concerned about the consequences of turning down women in a relationship than the reverse then men probably engage in "service sex" more often than women do.[1] That would imply men's true desire for sex in a long term relationship is actually lower than women's, over the entire population.  Women are seen to complain a lot about their male partners wanting sex, whereas women who are sex-starved appear to remain quiet about it.  Men of course tend not to talk about sex.  Could women who claim about their male partners wanting sex actually be [[virtue signalling]]?
