We often hear the claim that women are the gatekeepers of sex and that research supports this. All this really means is men are more likely to say yes if their partner initiates sex. Given that research shows that women are less inclined to initiate sex even when they want it the inclination for men to be more likely to say yes says little about levels of desire.

Greater bisexuality in women might be an indicator of women's greater sex drive.

If women didn't pursue sex abortions would not be as common as they are.

Many historical societies, including Western Europe during the Middle Ages, argued that women have higher libidos than men. Some also believed that women experience more pleasure from sex as the ancient Greek story of Tiresias demonstrates.
