On February 29, 2020 Melissa Oates allegedly struck and killed her partner Jari Wise with a car on Wilmot Road, Huonville, Tasmania, Australia. As is common in cases in which it is alleged a woman has committed intimate partner violence initial media reports stated that the man and woman were known to each other.[1] Oates was charged with four breaches of a police family violence order and was bailed to appear on March 17.[2]
