Mate-choice hypothesis

The mate-choice hypothesis proposes that the female orgasm is more difficult to attain than the male orgasm because it encourages women to choose men who are caring lovers and thus will be caring fathers. The mate-choice hypothesis argues against the feminist notion of Patriarchy because it is inherently based on female choice.
The main alternative to the mate-choice hypothesis is the argument that the female orgasm is vestigal. In this alternative hypothesis women orgasm because men orgasm.
Recent research that suggests that the female orgasm lasts longer than the male orgasm which would argue in favour of the mate-choice hypothesis.
