Irma Grese (1923-1945) was a guard at the Ravensbrück, Auschwitz and Bergen-Belsen concentration camps from 1942 to April 1945 when she was captured by British soldiers.

Grese was reportedly brutal with prisoners. She was responsible for selecting woman and children to be put to death in the gas chambers.

Concentration camp inmate and medical doctor, Gisella Perl was permitted to perform necessary procedures on imprisoned women but had no anesthetic. Perl later reported that Grese would observe these procedures and derive pleasure from the suffering of the women.

These accounts of Grese are corroborated by Olga Lengyel, a camp inmate with medical training.

Grese was executed in December 1945 after being found guilty at trial.
