Coronavirus disease 2019 ('COVID-19) is an infectious disease]caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).[1] It was first identified in December 2019 in Wuhan, China, and has resulted in an ongoing pandemic.[2][3] The first case may be traced back to 17 November 2019.[4]
Men are approximately twice as likely to die as women although the reasons for this are unclear. In contrast women are more likely to die than men of ebolavirus.
