There was an erosion of women's rights in the 19th century relative to men's rights. The mistake feminists and others make is to extend this to all of history. This is the origin of the title of my book - "The Victorian Fallacy".

Re the 19th century, I postulate there was a period in which men did gain some rights that women lacked but this period lasted maybe 100-150 years. It was during this period that feminism got its start.

Feminists and others make the mistake of assuming all of history was like this. This is the origin of the title of my book - The Victorian Fallacy. They think all of history was like the Victorian Era.
