Settled science

Settled science is a term used to claim that science has established a particular idea as truth and no further investigation is necessary. In reality the nature of science does not allow for it to be settled.

19th century scientist said that science was just the codification of the obvious. No sooner had he said that than quantum mechanics burst on to the scene. Clearly the science wasn't settled.
