Quotes
"Parliament House is turning orange for the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence.
And blokes, this one’s on us.
As a bloke, as a dad, and after decades in male-dominated workplaces, I know we set the culture. Violence isn’t inevitable. It’s preventable. But only if men step up.
One in four women have experienced intimate partner violence. One in five have been sexually assaulted. These aren’t stats, they’re our mates, our daughters, our colleagues, our sisters.
We are putting more than $4 billion into frontline services, housing and legal support. We’ve made the Leaving Violence Program permanent, boosted protections, strengthened laws, and today we’ve announced a 40% funding boost to 1800RESPECT so more women can get help when they need it.
But money isn’t enough. Cultural change starts with us blokes.
If you see something, hear something, or something doesn’t feel right, don’t laugh it off. Don’t look the other way. Step in. Speak up.
If a mate is crossing a line, have the hard conversation. It’s not dobbing. It’s protecting someone.
Violence against women isn’t a women’s issue. It’s a men’s responsibility.
We’re either part of the problem or part of the solution.
It's time for blokes to lead the change.'" [3]
