As of 2025 the mainstream media report that renters in Western countries, primarily young women, are entering in to sex-for-rent agreements in which they will have sex with their landlord in return to no rent or a reduced rent.
The British government is investigating the scale of this and considering banning the practice.[1]
This practice would fall under the definition of prostitution.
