Similarities
There are quite a few similaries between the 2025 federal Australian and Canadian elections.
- Both were won by centre left parties
- Both conservative parties were tipped to win in the months before the election but lost support over time
- In both selections party leaders lost their seats
- The leaders of the Coalition parties lost their seats in both countries
- In Canada the leader of the third largest party also lost his seat
- In each case one major party experienced a significant loss of seats
