The World Food Programme (WFP) is a part of the United Nations. Despite claiming to be a humanitarian organisation the WFP only feeds women and girls. Many reports in the mainstream media have inaccurately claimed that the WFP proritises food access for women and girls. An examination of the WFP's own writings on this topic make it clear that food is never given to men and boys. The WFP goes on to assert that men routinely take food from women, without offering any supporting evidence.

"It is our methodology to distribute only to women to ensure that food gets to women and children in Haiti," --Josette Sheeran, WFP executive director[1][2][3][4]

This strategy fails to cover families that lack female members, such as those who would have lost them in the disaster itself and male same-sex couples.[5]
