Alyssa Jayne Milano (born December 19, 1972) is an American actress, producer, singer, author, and activist. She has played Samantha Micelli in Who's the Boss?, Jennifer Mancini in Melrose Place, Phoebe Halliwell in Charmed, Billie Cunningham in My Name Is Earl, Savannah "Savi" Davis in Mistresses, Renata Murphy in Wet Hot American Summer: 10 Years Later, and Coralee Armstrong in Netflix's Insatiable.
MeToo
Milano was a prominent figure in the MeToo movement.
Sex Strike
In May 2019 Milano proposed a sex strike to protest restrictions on abortion in the United States.[1] Many women such as Bette Midler and Maureen Shaw supported Milano's position while others disagreed on the basis that it portrayed sex as something that women give to men.[2] While there was widespread media attention there is no evidence that a sex strike occurred.
Defund The Police
Milano is also a support of Defund the police. In September 2020 Milano called for urgent police assistance for an apparent gunman on her property. Police subsequently located a neighbourhood teen shooting at squirels with an air rifle.[3][4]
