The Jake and Josie poster.

Jake and Josie is the name given to a poster produced by the Campus Assault Resource Education Support Coalition at the Coastal Carolina University and put up around the campus in 2008.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7]

The poster depicts a man and a woman both getting drunk. The poster then indicates that the man was charged with rape the following day. The implication is that the woman lost her agency when she became intoxicated but the man did not. This is consistent with modern feminist ideology.

Commentary

If men and women have legal equality then the standard for consent should be the same for both. Either both can still consent, or both have lost the capacity to consent. If both have lost the capacity to consent then it's possible that they raped each other.

In Common Law individuals that willingly become inebriated are still responsible for their actions although courts have routinely exempted women from this provision in recent years.

It is often claimed that women mature faster than men. If true then perhaps only the woman should be charged with rape in a case like this.
