Magistrate Ronald Kilner is a magistrate in Queensland, Australia. Kilner retired in 2015 but returned as an acting magistrate in 2018. During his retirement speech in 2015 Kilner spoke about the weaponisation of domestic violence legislation.[1][2]
On 20 September 2022 Kilner deferred sentencing on defendant Troy Matheson, arguing that Matheson's ex-wife had provoked him by being unfaithful. Kilner called the matter a travesty of justice.[3][4]
Following Matheson's incarceration her ex-wife held a Troy in jail party at his house.[5][6]
Kilner further stated:
"His wife goes to cheat and break up a family, he tries to restore the family and is punished further." [7][8]
Kilner has been stood down as a magistrate in Queensland pending an investigation.
