Yang Ping is a Taiwanese women who was charged with the attempted murder of her Australian then-boyfriend, Alex Shorey. Mr Shorey was poinsed with a large quantity of rat poison. Critially ill, Mr Shorey was eventually medically evacuated to his home country of Australia.[1][2]

Prosecutors allege that Ping decided to poison Mr Shorey after he decided to return to Australia early for personal reasons. The prosecutors further allege that she believed that once Mr Shorey become unwell he would need to remaining Taiwan and she could care for him.[3]
