Heteronormativity is the concept that heterosexuality is normal and the most common sexual orientation. This view is supported by the theory of evolution in which sexual reproduction is strongly selected for.
Heteronormativity does not preclude legal and social acceptance of homosexuality, it merely asserts that the majority of the population will be heterosexual. In particular heteronormativity does not preclude the possibility that latent bisexuality is common in women.
