Luke Lazarus is an Australian man residing in Sydney. After a woman, Saxon Mullins, accused Lazarus of raping her he was arrested, charged, and went to trial. Lazarus was initially convicted but subsequently found not-guilt on appeal using an honest mistake of fact defence.[1][2]
Following Lazarus' acquittal, the Australian state of New South Wales moved to strengthen sexual consent laws and ultimately proposed an affirmative consent model.
