Western civilisation encompasses countries that are in Western Europe or countries where a majority of the population descend from people from Western Europe. Countries encompassed by Western civilisation are called Western nations or The West. While this definition should include Latin America it is generally considered to be distinct, perhaps due to persistently greater wealth inequality over the last few centuries.
In general Western nations have had a strong tradition of the rule of law although this is today under attack by wokeness.
