Australia recently saw a clear demonstration of the power of Social Justice Warriors and the chronically offended. Zoo Weekly.

On August 20, 2015 it was widely reported in the media in Australia that Coles, one of the two major supermarket chains in Australia, would be removing the magazine Zoo Weekly from sale from all of its stores. The other major supermarket chain Woolworths has, at the time of writing, declined to comment on whether it would follow suit.

This apparently all started when a Coles staff member Laura Pinter lodged a complaint with her employer. She went on to start a petition to remove the magazine from Coles shelves. When opening the petition Pinter made a number of interesting comments.

"Domestic violence is spiralling out of control,..."

Actually Laura, domestic violence rates in Australia are fairly static and may be in slow decline.

Collective Shout, which Pinter is apparently affiliated with claim that Zoo Weekly is an 'unrestricted' pornographic magazine. This seems to be implying some sort of offical classificiation of Zoo Weekly as a pornographic magazine. Their examples seem to be no worse than what anyone might see on any beach in the world.

'Pintur says it "promotes rape culture” and “teaches boys that girls exist purely for their sexual use”.' It's pretty well known in these parts that Pintur is expressing mainstream feminist positions. I suspect that a lot of Australians will be shocked by these statements and by the power these people wield to have harmless publications pulled from the shelves. End result - more MRAs, more anti-feminists.
