Hover hands is a term used to mock or deride men when they refrain from touching women they are in close proximity to due to concerns about possible false allegations. In a common example the man and woman will be posing for a picture with the man having his hand near the woman's waist rather than touching her waist. The implication of the mocking or derision is that the man lacks confidence by refraining from touching the woman.[1] In the era of #MeToo men are often wise to avoid touching women they don't know well. In South Korea this is more commonly called manner hands.[2]

It has been widely speculated that Keanu Reaves is engaging in hover hands for his own protection as many pictures of him with women show his exposed palms.[3]
