Berlinah Wallace

In May 2018 Berlinah Wallace was convicted of attacking her former boyfriend, Mark van Dongen by hurling sulphuric acid over most of his body. Before attacking Mr van Dongen with sulphuric acid, Wallace stated:
"If I can’t have you, no-one can".[1]
As a result of this attack Mr van Dongen was paralyzed below the neck, lost the sight in one eye and had a leg amputated. Wallace was found not guilty of murder or manslaughter but was found guilty on other charges and sentenced to life imprisonment.[2] Mr van Dongen subsequently chose to end his own life via euthanasia.[3]
