Gender transitioning
Gender and sex identities, along with the practice of gender transitioning, are contentious topics.
Physiological identity and imaginative identity are not necessarily seamless copies of each other, and nor do they cancel each other out when at variance. A person can be physically male, and imaginatively female at the same time. Therefore there must remain a careful acknowledgement of both in any given individual.
While many people support the rights of adults to transition gender, a large consensus of people reject the transitioning of gender for children. Throughout the world today children are restricted in law from making certain choices that would have long-term consequences, and gender transitioning dictated for children by adults is viewed as a violation of the child's rights.
