 Glad this is being discussed.&lt;br /&gt;

 A lot of people (even a lot of MRAs) buy in to &amp;#039;bad history&amp;#039; about the historical roles of men and women.  Historically fathers did play a major part in the upbringing of their children.  Most  &lt;br /&gt;
 people throughout history spent much of their time near their home (hunting, gathering, or working in a field) and the children were often involved in the work too.&lt;br /&gt;
 &lt;br /&gt;
 It was only with the advent of mass transit in the 19th century that people started to do a daily commute.  When that happened men tended to be the ones that commuted further (as is still true  &lt;br /&gt;
 today).  This resulted in fathers spending more time away from home and having less contact with their children during the day.&lt;/div&gt;</summary>
